Defending non-SH villages

Post  BGS on Tue Mar 31, 2009 10:18 am

Some players are having bad experiences with their starting (non-stronghold village). A couple have been chiefed, a couple crop-locked, and a few are being raided. Here is some general advice on non-SH villages

- Get a sitter. Get two. No exceptions. If you don't want a sitter, then you can't complain when your village is chiefed at 3 am. But getting a sitter isn't just about you, it also means that when your neighbour needs help and you are asleep or away, your sitter can send your troops to give help.
- Do NOT move your capital from your starting village until you absolutely have to. And that means that you have so many troops in the stronghold that your crop total there is negative and you really really need to start upgrading fields to level 11.
- Build defensive troops in non-SH village up to crop limit (even a little beyond if possible).
- Build at least one level 10 cranny in non-SH village.
- Respond to calls for defence under leadership direction (not all attacks have the same priority). Pay attention to your leaders.
- Don't leave small numbers of def troops unattended (e.g. overnight). Send them to your neighbour who is going to be online, send them on a raid to a tiny village, or - best of all - get a sitter.
- Expect to eventually lose your non-SH village and don't be too surprised when this happens
- But don't give up early. Just because you lost a few troops doesn't mean you should abandon all attempts to stop your starting village from becoming a farm.

also

- delete any non essential buildings. you dont need a blacksmith, acadamy, embassy or workshop, build crannies instead
might sound silly but hiding 5-10k res means they get less, you have more after they have been.

- THINK AHEAD, before you change your capital location, ask yourself is my cropper in negative crop with all lvl 10 crops, and lvl 5 bakery and 3 oasis's, cos if not THEN DONT MOVE IT.

but before you move it, delete as much as you can to prevent MNU getting a free, very healthy village

3 oasis is a bit drastic, have you seen the cost of 3 oasis, lets be a little realistic, I think 2 oasis yes but 3 yeah thats a bit extreme.

Well that depends on how long people want to hold on to there starter villages. looking at how many people have switched already though tells me not very long
