Reserving farms? Sharing farms?

Post  BGS on Tue Mar 24, 2009 11:08 am

I received a message from a FUN member asking me to stop attacking a particular farm because he needed it and saying that he had lost x number troops in clearing it.

I am sympathetic to his concerns, however, I have always had the attitude that all farms are communal, and that it is better that a fellow FUN member takes resources than, say, MNU. I also give generously to anyone who asks when I am able. I am not simply trying to do what is best for me, but what is best for all of us. I think that clearing (or croplocking) a farm is a form of community service. I suspect I have cleared over 100 farms in the SH (some of them using Brush Monkey's troops Very Happy ) and croplocked dozens more, losing many hundreds of troops in the process, and many players benefit from this service. I do not think I have a particular claim on any of these farms.

I am willing to leave this farm if people think it is best, but please tell me if my attitude to farms is unusual or off the mark.

You dont own farms, so u cant tell people not to touch them.

And you have no idea who is raiding a farm outside your alliance so what does it matter.

And if one farm is crucial to you then you're in trouble

Actually, when you're not farming for a major boost, but a minor, then it does make a difference...

And it doesn't make a difference for someone who is hitting million mark on weekly basis for a couple of weeks already.

However, I won't complain about it ever again, have your farm, have all of them, I'll sim my way through...

Lol. Just try your best to farm. If closer farms are being farmed already, raid some where further. All of my villages are in the SH, almost every village i see is a FUN, FUN*F or a FUN Lite village. But what difference does it make? I still try raiding even though i know that the farms are being raided, i still get resources. And yes, BGS is also near to me. I still can get 100k resources from raiding in a lucky week. ^^.

Just try your best and don't give up. Why keep those troops slacking back at the village? Just try your lucky xP

Unfortunately, this is a side-effect of the Stronghold strategy. It allows us to reinforce quickly and enmasse. Close proximity means that your alliance neighbors will be farming the same farms as you. Another issue that we will run into is oasises. Make sure that if you intend to take it, IGM your neighbor. Initial placement of the FUN (main) wing was a little more spread out to prevent doubling up of oasises. As the SH grows, prime real estate is settled by other FUNsters. Eventually, there won't be any more farms close to us.
