[TL] Major problem

Post  BGS on Thu Feb 19, 2009 1:02 pm

I just lost 90 catas, 12 rams and over 100 swords (plus a few TTs and other units) in 10 waves of attacks on zxviper from village [TL] USS, now renamed "[TL] FTW MOFOS". Nothing returned. Over 381K resources worth of troops.

Here is the first wave:
http://travilog.org.ua/en/5303262/3977b20c2a3b5f86d5dd8d649504b4bf

There were nine more, each with 9 catas and more swords.

That really hurts.

This is painful for me, but it is a much bigger problem for all of us, namely, that [TL] are getting organised.

Please some1 with lots of scouts scout this village asap.

Also we are having a boost program for BGS in order to get him on his feet in short notice. Every1 willing to help send boosts to his village Camperdown (-93|194) .

I think I would have send more footsoldiers to accompany the expensive stuff, but it's easy to sound clever afterward.

I will send some goods once my merchants are back. GL rebuilding

Yes, I know. You are right. I normally had been, but the majority of my swords were busy doing something else and I had hit this guy 4 or 5 times before. I guess I underestimated their capacity for a bit of organisation. Crying or Very sad

I was even so proud to have sent off 10 waves within 3 seconds. Laughing

Having now scouted, 95% of the reinforcements came from a single source, and I am pretty sure what it was. If you would like to be in on the action of clearing it out (esp if you have some catas), then contact me.

Anyway, three morals to the story:
  1. The power of co-ordinated defence. Believe in it. Use it.
  2. The importance of good cover for catas and other expensive units.
  3. The cruciality of scouting even "safe" targets before major strikes.

Damn. Yeah, next time you should include a large clearing wave just to be sure. As said in another post, MM's should be sent out to all the wings describing the situation and need to try to control their growth. I see some players from main and flank are near these guys, but they have an okay amount of troops.

They have very good instructions. They know how to cranny and dodge. I have been attacking every single [TL] near me multiple times a day for the last week and more, and only very rarely do I hit troops, but I know they are there.

How large a clearing wave would you include against a crop-locked village with a population of 130 (down from over 200 the day before due to earlier cata attacks), no wall or residence and which has never had more than 10 troops at a time? I guessed 60 swords and about 10 TTs. I guessed wrongly.

I had never seen [TL] work together until this morning. Many of my assumptions about them have changed as I have talked to people over the last few hours about their experience of [TL]. They are getting very good instructions from their website and are highly committed to their alliance. If they leave it, I have heard that they get kicked from the TorrentLeech site, which is worth more to them than any Travian alliance.

Yeah, that would be a bit deceiving. I am waiting for my troops to get back from raids to take out some [TL] troops before they get to large numbers. Next time we send out cats. It might be a good idea to send fake cats to a village(s) next to it so they would have to choose the real one and gamble.

Yeah, might be a good idea, though it's expensive to send fake cats unless you also sending clearing wave with the "fake".

Yes, I could have been wrong about where the Gallic defensive troops came from. Or he might have sent them on an overnight raid (which I am sure he must have been doing in any case).

If anyone ever loses all their troops in an attack on [TL] let us know immediately. Post here and send IGMs to relevant leaders.

He's been hit once. Won't be long before he's top of the list to be hit again. And again. Rinse and repeat.
