A helpful new idea for the War Room
So I was thinking back to previous servers I've played on and what things I thought were helpful to our success. Therefore, I wanted to share them with this alliance since by the looks of it, we are heading in a great direction. In my previous servers, we had a large portion of the war room set aside for scouting of enemies troops. They were divided alphabetically or by alliance so that they could be found easily by anyone interested in attacking or needing to defend against this said enemy. This was a great way to keep track of enemies troops and would be updated with every attack on us since the attack page rolls over quickly.
The way this was set up was to just post their troops and not yours. For a new enemy not documented yet, one would put their name followed by their alliance (Caemlyn of -=D=-). Then copy and paste the info.
Let me know what you guys think. I find this very helpful.
Example:
Caemlyn of -=D=-
Subject: Caemlyn attacks Alextopia
sent: on 01/26/09 at 02:45:53 pm
Attacker fannann from the village Caemlyn
Troops 0 0 0 142 0 0 0 0 0 0 1

I think this sounds like a great idea. My only suggestion is to add tribe. Even though this can be found easily on the map, it is also easy to add it to the post and not have to check the map to find out what kind of troops are being reported.

This is a good idea, but it has a number of flaws that make it useless:
1- It won't have effect if all members don't post everything they know, always. This is hard.
2- It would've been really complicated to keep all that data.
3- Information from those reports just isn't reliable. I can post an attack on me, not knowing: did that guy attack me with full force, did he got his troops wasted after that, did he significantly improved their numbers...
The information is just too inreliable, and to complicated to gather and maintain...

Don't worry people. I had that on mind before server started. Thanks for posting it tho incubuss. When the battles start we will implement that strategy.

Although the information will always be incomplete, it is better than nothing. Even if not everyone contributes, it is still worthwhile to share, esp when it is an undetected scouting.
And the idea of having a separate thread for each village is good. Means you can find what you're looking and see if anyone else has noticed anything. It's all part of putting together a picture (as well as looking at their profile, alliance and so on).

I was thinking of the ingame forum. Its much better and faster to see and find info you need.

yes why don't we remove the link to the forums from our alliance page and use the travian forum for sensitive information available to members.

Other people's troop counts won't give any sensitive information of yours away.

I did lol, that's why I said it should be sensitive information that is only available to members of this alliance. But the main problem is that we wouldn't be able to share it between the wings.

In game forum so all member of every wing of FUN can see it.
Me scouting some1 and posting it isn't sensitive info at all. Him scouting me is sensitive information and of course we won't post that.

Just my thoughts on this.
I personally am not a fan of outside forums. One of the reasons for this, is because I have to change tabs when reading them and working on my city. Yes, i realize its lazy, but its also just me. Its more things I have to remember and what not.
In game forums can also be trouble as well, but are more readily accessable to the alliance members. You can also have seperate forums for Confeds, Public and Alliance only. There is also an option for Leadership Forums, where only those who hold a position in the alliance can have one. I Have had an alliance have those as well, and was shocked when I read them, because they used those to discuss things, that should have been made public to the alliance as well. When I took that alliance over, I deleted those forums, and made everything again alliance only.
They both have their minus and plus. Personally, I like forums on travian more than I do outside forums, although this one is not as much a pain in the ass as some others I have been on.
